jennyandjimMany Baby Boomers today have either already retired or are getting ready to, whether they are ready or not. It can be a scary thing for many of us.

My wife and I tried our best to keep our eyes open until mid night but we woke up on the couch at about 3am. I think it still changed to 2012.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years

My wife is on her last year before she will retire and is eager to start a work from home blog to make some extra income for all the traveling we love to do. We even bought a new laptop so we can blog on the go.

Retirement can sneak up on you pretty quick but I think you already know that. The thing is not all of use have the nest egg needed to enjoy retirement to the fullest, so what’s a baby boomer to do? Just because we retire doesn’t mean we don’t need money.

Where’s All The Money For Retirement

I tried a lot of get rich quick schemes over the years and wasted a lot of our savings but it never worked out. I am not one to have meetings and talk in front of people. It actually scares me to death.

So when our retirement was getting closer and closer we realized I had blown a lot of our retirement money. Then to make things worse my family history caught up to me and I had my first heart attack which caused heart damage and wasn’t fixable. We were screwed to say the least.

I wasn’t allowed to drive, lift more than 10 pounds. I couldn’t even open the door at the bank without pushing the auto open. I felt useless and soon became depressed. The journey back to the point I could do something took 4 really long years.

In that time my computer became a really good friend as I was pretty much scared to leave home. At this time I started learning how to make money online. It saved my sanity and is now making us money.

Retirement With A Work From Home Job

People today live longer than their parents and grand parents and usually have more energy left for retirement than they have money. Money can be such an issue after retirement but it doesn’t have to be.

Instead we can work from home making money with our computers, all it takes is a little learning and a desire to keep on going. For this reason I have blogs for every one of my main hobbies along with a few for my other interests.

Jenny and I love to travel and plan to do even more once she retires, in just one more year. We can take our work from home blogs on the road when we travel. That’s just so cool.

If I am talking about my hobbies and interests I can talk your ear off for days and days, without repeating the same story twice. This is perfect for a blogger like myself who has many hobbies. I can move from one blog to the next, talk or share a bit and then include a link or two to an affiliate product and make money.

My travel blog is just one of many blogs we have today but it’s the main reason we bought our new laptop. This way we can travel and blog at the same time. The thing is my travel blog is just one of our blogs.

I also have blogs about sport fishing, home gardening, playing acoustic guitar and so many other things.

Work From Home: How To Blog For Profit

Blogging is easy to do and one can be setup to start blogging in minutes. Heck you don’t even have to have your own domain as there are many free blogging platforms you can use. We choose to have more control by hosting our blogs with HostGator.com.

Now I don’t want to mislead you in any way so right now I will tell you that it does take a little learning to put it all together to make money but it’s not hard work and can be learned easily. Heck I have a grade nine education from 1969 and I figured it out, with a little help from Rosalind Gardener, author of the Super Affiliate Handbook.

I struggle with making money online at the beginning but that was due to my lack of knowledge and willingness to learn. Once I admitted I needed to learn and found Rosalind’s great ebook I found it wasn’t as tough as it appeared to be.

Now, after a couple of years of blogging for profit with my work at home business, I have more than 12 blogs. That’s one work from home blog for each of my hobbies. A couple of them today are about work from home ideas and reselling ebooks but I don’t suggest you start with those niches.
